Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Friday, accepted the resignation of state minister Mayaben Kodnani and has forwarded it to the Governor, an official statement said here.

Modi has accepted the resignation of the minister of State for Higher Education and Women and Child Development and it has been forwarded to the Governor with recommendations that she be relieved from the charge of minister, it said.

Kodnani, who was the minister of State for Higher Education, stepped down from the post on Friday, after the Gujarat High Court cancelled her anticipatory bail in the 2002 Naroda Patiya and Naroda Gam riots case, in which 106 people were killed.
