Modern National Press Centre to come up soon in Delhi
The proposed Centre on the Raisina Road, adjacent to Le Meridien Hotel, would have five floors equipped with all latest technologies matching international quality.
A state-of-the-art National Press Centre will soon come up here with the government today signing an agreement with state-owned National Building Construction Corporation Ltd (NBCC) for the Rs 60 crore project to provide professional assistance to mediapersons under one roof.The proposed Centre on the Raisina Road, adjacent to Le Meridien Hotel, would have five floors equipped with alllatest technologies matching international quality, Ira Joshi,additional director general, Press Information Bureau, said.To be constructed by the NBCC, the Centre would have big and small halls to enable even foreign dignitaries to hold press conferences in the national capital.
The proposal approved some years back was originally expected to cost Rs 35 crore.
Joshi and NBCC director (Project) V.P. Dass signed the agreement for the construction of the Centre, expected to be completed within 30 months. Principal director general, PIB,Neelam Kapur was also present on the occasion.
