Police said the 15-year-old girl was on her way home from school on May 31 evening when a tea shop employee accosted her and took her to the house in Vazhapady in the district. He tied her up, locked her in a room and called up his friends and all of them raped her for the last five days, they said.

The girl managed to escape from there on Wednesday, walked 12 km back to her house and narrated the incident to her parents, who then filed a complaint with police last night.

Seven persons have been arrested and booked under various sections of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, police said.
