This is the second consecutive year that Swu not only distributed tree saplings to all the villages but has been personally engaged in plating different species of tree saplings.

"Last year 17,000 saplings were planted throughout the sub-division and this year 10,000 tree saplings have been distributed for plantation in every village under Pughoboto sub-division as part of the Green Pughoboto project through the Local Area Development Fund," the Minister said while planting a tree at ongoing construction site of Pughoboto Mini Secretariat.

The plantation drive is to meet the challenges of climate change and also an initiative to transform Pughoboto into the most beautiful green area in the State, he said.

"Nature is the greatest gift of God to mankind and therefore we should plant trees to protect the nature.

Everyone should take the responsibility to preserve, conserve and plant trees," the minister appealed.

Joining the plantation drive, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Pughoboto, Avelu Ruho and her staff also planted tree saplings at Pughoboto Mini Secretariat.

People from different walks of life, including church, women groups, youth, students and NPF Farmer s wing participated in the mass plantation drive.
