Meira Kumar says 2G talks a ‘step forward’

Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar’s initiative to break the deadlock in the parliament over the opposition’s demand for setting-up a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to probe the 2G spectrum allocation scam has failed to make any substantive difference in the situation.

Though Kumar has termed the two meetings that she has had with leaders of various political parties as “step forward” both sides have stuck to their guns. There is however, a marginal difference between the positions taken by the BJP and other non-NDA parties. The BJP is firm on its “No JPC, no house”.
