A most wanted ANCA militant, who escaped from police lock-up about three months ago, was arrested along with his aide in Tamil Nadu, police said on Wednesday.

William A Sangma, a self-styled commander of the Achik National Cooperative Army (ANCA), and his accomplice Alas R Sangma were arrested from Chinakkarai in Tirupur district of Tamil Nadu yesterday, a police spokesperson said.

Acting on a tip off, a special team took the help of the Tirupur district police and tracked William and his accomplice in a readymade garment manufacturing factory, he said.

William is the most wanted militant who escaped from Mendipathar police up in August last, he said.

His accomplice Alas R Sangma is also wanted in connection with a case in which he was accused of killing his six-year-old son.

William and his accomplice are being brought to Garo Hills today.

Earlier on Monday, Sanjeev Roy, a close associate of William A Sangma, was arrested from Lower Babupara in Tura and seized Rs 31,745, five mobile phones, and some documents from his possession.
