“If a chief minister is occupying a bungalow, it is for the purpose of fulfilling the responsibility of a chief minister. It is more of a necessity than a luxury,” Mukul told reporters here after a cabinet meeting.

“I need not tell my colleagues that we should only replicate somebody else’s approach to governance because I believe not in rhetoric, but in actual demonstration of our commitment and resolve to serve the people and take the state forward,” he said.

The Chief Minister had moved in to a Rs 10 crore "Good Wood" bungalow last year after he was reelected to the Assembly.

Prior to that, the Chief Minister was staying in his home at a posh locality here in Nongrim Hills.

Mukul said it was difficult for him to carry out his responsibilities staying at his home while defending his move to the official bungalow.
