Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi on Saturday denied posting the last name of the victim of the sexual assault case involving former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal on her Twitter page, and said that a person who is well aware of the law, would never attempt such an act.

Lekhi had earlier on Friday admitted to have revealed the last name of the victim, and made an apology but she later rubbished it by saying that she never made any such official statement. “I never made any statement at the first place as I am well aware of the consequences and a person who is aware of it will never attempt such an act. I clarified my stand and maintained what I had to,” she said.

“Someone created my impersonated picture and account and posted tweets after hacking my account. I will not hack my own account and I have sent a complaint to the police as well as to twitter. My Facebook and my Gmail account had also been hacked recently and the hacker tagged some controversial tweets to Rajdeep Sardesai and Barkha Dutt naming Mr. Advani,” she added.

Earlier on Friday, Lekhi had tweeted the surname of the victim who was sexually assaulted by Tejpal in Goa during an event.
