More than 60 children admitted to the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) unit at the district hospital share 24 beds here.
Two children have been killed due to infection as the health and hygiene standards touched a new low in Rajasthan's Baran district. More than 60 children admitted to the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) unit at the district hospital share 24 beds here.
The situation is that three to four children share a single bed leading to a danger of infection spreading amongst these children. However, no action has been taken by the authorities in spite of complaints. This has been the case for a lot of years. From public representatives to administrative officials, no one has done anything to improve the conditions of these units.
The infection claimed the lives of two children, three-month-old Aashiq Sahariya, a resident of Purnea and four-year-old Shivani Bairwa, a resident of Topra.
One of the attendants, Anita Suman said, "Three to four children have been admitted to the same bed in the hospital. This poses a risk of infection." Moreover, Giriraj Meena, a paediatrician said due to the changing weather, a lot of students are falling ill.
