MCD Election Results: President should dissolve current Delhi govt, people have no faith in AAP: Subramanian Swamy
The senior BJP leader said something similar was done in 1977
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy took a dig at Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), after its humiliating loss in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections on Wednesday.
Speaking to news agency, ANI, Swamy said, "I think the president should dismiss the Delhi government and order fresh elections.AAP support has evaporated," he said.
The BJP swept the MCD elections. AAP, however, blamed its defeat on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
"EVM manipulation is the bitter truth behind the crushing blow to the AAP in the municipal polls," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.
Senior minister in the Delhi government Gopal Rai said, "This isn't a Modi wave, this is an EVM wave. The same happened in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It is a major threat against democracy. The rights of the electorate will have to be ensured."
