Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati Thursday asked the police officials to crack down on anti-social elements in the state, and warned of stern action against officials found lacking on law and order front.The Chief Minister instructed police officials to initiate strict action against "goonda, mafia and anti-social elements and those creating communal troubles," an official release issued here said.Mayawati, after a review meeting, also asked the district magistrates to prevent illegal mining in the state, the release said.Mayawati directed that blankets should be distributed for the poor and bonfires should also be lit during the winter season, the release said.Funds have already been released for setting up 131 shelter homes which should be ready by December 31, the release said.Mayawati also asked the officials to launch a special month-long immunisation campaign for children till January 15 next year.According to release, 1,800 doctors would be recruited in the state by February 2012.Directing officials to provide all facilities to farmers during the Rabi season, she asked officials on field duty to conduct surprise checks at fertiliser purchase centres and take action against those indulging in black marketing.
