The Mayawati government has decided to move the Supreme Court against recommendations of the High Court Advisory Board trashing the imposition of NSA against BJP leader Varun Gandhi.

A Home Department spokesman said here on Saturday that the Pilibhit District Magistrate (DM) had asked for time to present his case before the Advisory Board. However, he was not given time to plead his case. The spokesman said that the Advisory Board gave its opinion in this case without considering all the facts, which was “totally unjustified”.

The spokesman said that the case was still under the consideration of the SC. Therefore, a petition would now be filed in the apex court against the Advisory Board’s decision. The spokesman said Varun was out on parole granted by the Supreme Court. He further said that the Advisory Board decision would not affect action in other criminal cases filed against Varun.
