Instead of the words distinction, first class or second class, you will find grades A1, A2, B1, B2, till E1, E2 which means fail. Grades for each subject will be mentioned in the mark sheet.

Instead of percentages, percentiles will be mentioned.

Speaking to DNA, examination secretary of GSHSEB, GS Rabari said, "The marks obtained in individual subjects will be mentioned along with their grades. Also, in the end, total marks of all the subjects will be there with final grade. Instead of percentage, we have kept percentile ranking from this year. So those students wishing to know their percentage can calculate it from their total marks."

In addition, for those who do not know about percentiles, on the back of the mark sheet calculations have been explained so that parents and students do not face any confusion.

Explaining about the percentile system, Rabari said, "It indicates a student's standing as compared to other students of the same group. The figure tells what number or proportion of students of the group scored the same or more  than the student. Percentile is all about how the student has performed as compared to other students whereas percentage is only about how the student has performed."

The passing marks for students have also changed to 33%, which was earlier 35%, added Rabari.
