When they appeared before XIV Special judge for CBI cases Bhaskaran, the judge adjourned the case to April 22 after the investigating agency submitted that the documents to be served on the two were not ready yet.

The case pertains to the setting up of an illegal telephone exchange at Dayanidhi Maran’s houses in Chennai when he was the Telecom Minister in the UPA-I government. The allegation against Dayanidhi was that he had had 300 telephone lines installed at his residence while he was the Union Telecom Minister and connected them to the Sun TV office, owned by Kalanidhi, for data transfer.

The CBI has named Dayanidhi and senior BSNL officials in the FIR filed in October 2013, following a preliminary inquiry in which the agency claimed to have found enough evidence to proceed with a regular case against the former Union Telecom Minister.

A special CBI team from New Delhi had arrested Chief Technical Officer S Kannan and electrician KS Ravi of Sun TV network in connection with the case in January 2015.
