Mann Ki Baat 2.0: 2019 general elections was largest democratic election ever held in world: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's on Sunday resumed his popular radio address to the nation 'Mann Ki Baat' after being re-elected to power in Lok Sabha elections 2019.

It was Modi's first Mann Ki Baat after he sworn-in as Prime Minister for a second time following a mammoth victory in 2019 elections.

Resuming his first Mann Ki Baat radio address today, PM Modi said, "Will not reveal other things today, but I want to tell you that perhaps in that solitary cave, I got an opportunity to fill the vacuum caused due to the long gap of #MannKiBaat. I undertook Kedarnath journey to meet my inner self. Some people politicised my trip."

"In the 2019 General elections, India witnessed 61 crore voters exercising their franchise. It was the largest democratic election ever held in the world. In a remote area of Arunachal Pradesh, just for one voter, a booth was set up," PM Modi said. 

"The rigours of elections called for hectic preoccupation, but one thing that was missing was the sheer joy of Mann Ki Baat. For me, it was like experiencing a kind of void. It used to be a chat in a genial atmosphere amidst the warmth of one's own family of 130 crore countrymen; we would listen, we would re-iterate; at times our expressions would turn into an inspiration for someone close to us," he said.

"You possibly do not know that you are the ones who make me walk, who make me run and keep me full of life and zest... this is the very bond that I used to miss. My heart is filled to the brim with joy today," the Prime Minister said.

He also expressed happiness over the messages written by the citizens saying that they miss Mann Ki Baat.

"When I read them when I hear them, it gives me joy. There are times when I feel that this is a part of my spiritual journey from I' to We," PM Narendra Modi said.

The Prime Minister said the letters that come for Mann Ki Baat, become a source of inspiration and energy for him. "Your letters for Mann Ki Baat, in a way, become the reason for my inspiration and energy. Sometimes, they also work in sharpening my thinking process."

"When emergency was imposed, resistance against it was not just in political circles or politicians; the movement was not limited to the jails. There was anger in the conscience of everyone," Modi said in Mann Ki Baat.

• PM Modi also acknowledged peoples' participation in International Day of Yoga, which was celebrated on June 21 across the world. The Prime Minister said he was delighted to witness peoples' effort to participate in the event from mountains to sea.
• I have 3 request-Appeal to all, including eminent people from all walks of life to create awareness on water conservation. Share info of traditional methods of water conservation. If you know about any individuals or NGOs working on water, do share about them.
• With the significance of water in mind, a new #Jalashakti ministry has been established in the country. This will allow quicker decision-making on all water issues.
• Water crisis hits many parts of the nation every year. You will be surprised that only 8% of the rainwater in the whole year is harvested in our country.
• Recently, someone gifted me a book on popular short stories by Premchand. It was amazing. The story 'Nasha' on economic disparity was enlightening and also 'Eidgah', this story about young Hamid really touched my heart.

Earlier on Sunday, ahead of his first Mann Ki Baat after being re-elected, PM Modi said, "After four long months, Mann Ki Baat is back to do what it has always loved- celebrate the power of positivity and the strengths of 130 crore Indians! Do tune in at 11 AM tomorrow morning!"

Enthused by stunning performance in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has planned to take Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly radio programme to more people this time by making special arrangements and utilising all possible means.

In order to ensure that more and more people listen to Modi's radio programme, the party cadres at all levels have been directed to ensure better facilities such as better radio sets to attract more people to the programme.
