Singh was speaking after he and his wife, Gursharan Kaur, cast their vote at the Dispur Government Higher Secondary School polling booth in Guwahati, Assam.

"The Modi wave is the creation of media. I don't think the country as a whole is swept by any Modi wave," Singh told journalists after casting his vote in Guwahati.

Asked if the Congress is losing ground, he said, "I don't think the Congress is losing ground. I think we should wait for the outcome of the election process, which will be known on May 16."

He also predicted that the Congress will win most of Assam's 14 seats.

Singh has been representing Assam in the Rajya Sabha since 1991. His official records and affidavits list his address as house number 3,989, Nandan Nagar, Ward No 51, Sarumataria, Dispur, Kamrup
