Manipur: Blast in Imphal Bazar, at least 8 injured

At least 8 people were injured according to news agency ANI in a blast near Katuri Bridge in Imphal Bazar. The blast took place around 6.15 pm in the evening. Incidentally the voting process had ended just a few hours back in Manipur. Results for Manipur alongside four other states will be declared on 11th March.
Manipur recorded a high voter turnout of 86%. Polling is being held in 22 seats in the second and final phase of the state Assembly election The state Election Commission said, polling was peaceful except a few incidents of violence outside polling booths in Tamenglong Assembly segment.
Some cases of causing damage to the electronic voting machines (EVMs) were reported in Chandel Assembly segment. The EVMs were replaced within a short time, he added. The 22 Assembly segments, where polling is being held, are spread over the valley district of Thoubal and the hill districts of Ukhrul, Chandel, Tamenglong and Senapati.
