Local villagers recovered the bullet-riddled body of the 30 year-old man from near Balipeta village.

Police said a group of five armed Maoists stormed into the village, about 86 km from Koraput, last night and ordered five villagers to follow them to a nearby forest for a meeting.

After moving away a few meters the Maoists freed the four other villagers and took away the youth and gunned him down.

The police said the youth was not an informer and his father was a Maoist target for which he had left the village and was residing at Kakrigumma.

Meanwhile, traffic between Laxmipur-Narayanpatna and Narayanpatna-Bandhugaon was hit today due to road blockades by Maoists ahead of their two-day bandh from tomorrow.

The bandh is in protest against Operation Green Hunt.
