The body of a 21-year-old man was found under mysterious circumstances near Jamia Hamdard University in south Delhi today, a police official said.

Assad Malik, a resident of Tughlaqabad Extension, was found dead near the library gate. The Ambedkar Nagar police station was informed about the body around 2.30pm, he said.

"The deceased frequented the area with a rag picker," he said.

He said initial investigation suggested that Malik was taking banned drugs for sometime. A police team investigated the spot where the body was found and inquest proceedings have been started to ascertain the cause of his death, the official added.
