A 40-year old man was killed when a portion of building collapsed as rains accompanied by strong winds lashed parts of the city today, police said.
The man, reportedly hailing from Tamil Nadu, was found dead as a portion of the building, housing a hotel, at Mahatma Gandhi Junction on the Beach Road, caved in early today.
Police suspect that the man might have taken shelter in the building verandah due to rains.
His body was shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital here after inquest, they said.
