"It was stated that West Bengal is one of the best performing states in regard to coastal security," she said quoting a recent review meeting on coastal security where officials of all concerned central and state agencies were present.

A Coast Guard official said that the meeting held threadbare discussion on various issues and measures relating to coastal security where central agencies and state police could work in tandem. Since taking charge in 2011, the state government had taken up the task of setting up a comprehensive coastal security mechanism, besides setting up specialised coastal police stations to secure the state against any threats.
