Just like many others, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is also addicted to watching TV serials every day after work. During a function of the Tele Akademi Awards, she said "everyday after work, I watch serials on TV. I love music-based shows also".

Besides this, she also loves to watch films on YouTube.

"Those who work in the TV industry are very popular people. No character is unknown," the chief minister said adding people who reach the hearts of millions of people are true artists. Describing the television industry as 'Tellywood' she said West Bengal is number one in tele serials.

"Television is a big industry. It generates a lot of jobs. This is a cultural industry," she said adding that it is a matter of pride that people from Hollywood and Bollywood are shooting films in Bengal.

During the occasion, the CM presented awards to 106 artists and technicians working in the Bengali television industry. She said they are setting up a tele studio at Baruipur near which a flyover is also being built for better connectivity.
