Mamata Banerjee cannot alone decide what is right or wrong just to safeguard her party members. By standing firmly beside Tapas Paul in the recent rape remark controversy, she is thrusting her own opinions on the people of Bengal, said Adhir Chowdhury, the Pradesh Congress President, reported a local Bengali channel.

Chowdhury said that the chief minister has also belittled the issue and chosen the party over law in the state.

On the other hand, another local Bengali channel reported today that instead of questioning Tapas Paul, the police force is now more keen to know how the tape got leaked to the public. In fact, a police office of the Nakashipara Police Station has been given the responsibility to figure out who recorded the tape and how it was leaked to the media. Even the civic police is not being used for the matter as they could be using their personal contacts to get better information.

Mamata Banerjee in a recent event said a planned media campaign was being run against her by bringing up petty issues, though she did not mention what "issue" she was referring to.
