Renowned danseuse and activist Mallika Sarabhai will perform with her troupe at the end of January 2011, at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Madras' cultural festival Saarang.
Sarabhai will present a performance titled 'India: Then, now, forever' at the institute, along with ten members of her troupe, during the festival.
IIT-Madras’ Kartik Shandilya said, "Our open-air theatre has a seating capacity of nearly 10,000 people. And it has always been a philosophy with us that we bring in artists of repute, who're as much loved by the general masses as by the students. We're providing an opportunity for all of them to witness these artists live, and this time, it will be Dr Sarabhai performing at Saarang."
Saarang will also have, besides Dr Sarabhai, famous singer KK, rock band Pain of Salvation, Havikoro (US) and In Vivo, a unique choreographic play by French dance troupe S'poart, and Choreo Nite, where colleges will battle it out for the title of best Choreo team.
