Raising the matter during Zero Hour, Shwait Malik said it was "unfortunate" that children were abondoning parents and leaving them alone in old-age homes.

It is sad that senior citizens were increasingly shifted to such homes, he said and urged the government to bring a strong law to protect senior citizens.

"The government should ensure health and social security" of senior citizens, he said.
