A major anti-Maoist operation will be launched in Palamau, Latehar, Garwah and Lohardaga districts of Jharkhand, inspector general of police (Ranchi Zone) Rezi Dungdung said today.
"Operations against naxalites are already on, and now the operations will be conducted in a major way," he told a news conference.
The operations would be carried out on the basis of inetlligence inputs, he said after a meeting of the police superintendents of the four Maoist-hit districts and a DIG-ranked CRPF official here.
Jharkhand police chief Niaz Ahmed had last week said the security forces were preparing for a major anti-Maoist operation in the state, which has at least six outfits, including CPI(Maoists) operating inside it.
