Mahbubnagar is one of the Lok Sabha Constituencies that went to vote in Telangana in the Lok Sabha 2019.

Constituency Profile

The Mahbubnagar Parliamentary constituency consists of seven Assembly segments -- Mahbubnagar, Kodangal, Narayanpet, Jadcherla, Devarakadra, Makthal and Shadnagar.

The rise of Telangana icon KCR is intricately linked with this seat. It was here the he fought a lone battle for a separate Telangana beating Congress’ Vittal Rao in the 2009 elections and went on to become a Union Minister. In 2009, only two TRS candidates went to Lok Sabha – KCR and Vijayashanti from Medak.

He managed to garner enough support from various parties to carve out a separate state and also helped TRS gain strength in southern Telangana.

In 2014, AP Jitender Reddy won against Cong stalwart S Jaipal Reddy.

In 2019, BJP’s DK Aruna will faceoff against Manne Srinivas Reddy of TRS and INC’s Vamschichand Reddy.

Telangana, which has 17 Lok Sabha segments, goes to the polls in the first phase on April 11. They are  Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Adilabad, Zahirabad, Medak, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Khammam, Bhongir, Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Chevella, Secunderabad, Nizamabad, Malkajgiri and Hyderabad.

In 2014, when the state was formed KCR's TRS won 63 of the 119 the Assembly seats in the state. The TRS also won 10 of the 17 Lok Sabha seats, with INC getting 2, BJP getting 1, AIMIM getting 1 and the YSCRCP ending up with one.
