Maharashtra: Satara's panchayat thrashes minor for not resisting rape by father

In a harrowing incident, a man raped his own daughter for four months in Satara, following which both the father and the minor girl were thrashed by the panchayat, reports The New Express.
The panchayat of the Panchwad village in Satara, Maharashtra beat up both daughter and father with a cane ten times.
The man had reportedly raped his daughter for four months and the locals in the village came to know about the incident when the girl became pregnant.
The victim was raised by her father as her mother passed away when she was very young.
The minor girl was beaten up because she did not inform anyone about the incident and for not protesting against her father.
After the incident took place, an RTI activist filed a complaint with the local police station and gave images of the panchayat's action evidence.
The police has launched an investigation in this regard.
