In a significant political development, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday night drove to Matoshri, the residence of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, for dinner.

The dinner diplomacy between the warring alliance partners took media by surprise and created curiosity among political circles. The relationship between the ruling partners in the state had nosedived following a war of words, aimed at gaining upperhand in the upcoming elections to the Brihanmumbai municipal corporation (BMC).

Sources told dna correspondent that the meeting was a customary one to put up a united face ahead of the monsoon session, where the ruling partners are expected to face heat from the opposition benches over various issues. The absence of seasoned leader Albert Khadse in the treasury benches is also cited as a reason.

The government is aiming at clearing as many as 10 legislations in the Assembly and three in the council, this monsoon session.
