A state of horror and panic was created at Maharashtra’s Devlali railway station when a suspicious bag was found near a dustbin. As soon as the news broke, the bomb squad came to the spot and handled the situation.

Later, after a long investigation, it was found that the bag belonged to some traveler who has lost it and it was harmless.

Few days ago, an anonymous letter threatening to blow up the station premises was received from an unknown man. The letter was written by an unidentified man. The police are still on the look-out for the man.

Following both the incidents, the security has been beefed up at the station, although, no high alert was sounded in the area.

Notably, Devlali is an army base camp in Maharashtra.

In an earlier incident on January 11, security at Sitamarhi railway station was beefed up following an anonymous letter threatening to blow up the premises was found, police said. Train services on the Sitamarhi-Darbhanga rail section were stopped after the letter was found by Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel.

Sitamarhi District Magistrate Ranjit Kumar Singh, however, said that the threat letter could have been written by a mentally unsound person as it said that the sender had written to the Prime Minister 152 times for resolution of grievance but did not receive any reply from him and hence the decision to blow up the railway station.
