Mahant Narendra Giri death case: Culprit will not be spared, says UP CM Yogi Adityanath

In a shocking development, Mahant Narendra Giri, president of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, was found dead on Monday (September 20) evening. The revered Mahant Giri was found dead in his room at the Baghambari Math in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj.

The police has recovered a handwritten suicide letter from the room. According to police, the letter contains names of people who had been allegedly troubling Mahant Giri.  

The UP Police said that prima facie it looks like a suicide case but a final decision will be taken after thorough probe. The police have arrested Swami Anand Giri, the disciple of Mahant Narendra Giri in the matter as his name was mentioned in a suicide note along with two others.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday (September 21) reached Baghambari Math in Prayagraj to pay his last respects to Mahant Giri. "The post-mortem [of Narendra Giri's body] will be done tomorrow. The culprit will not be spared. Several pieces of evidence have been collected regarding the incident. A team of senior police officials is investing the case," said CM Yogi.

Meanwhile, Mahant Raju Das, head priest of the Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya, has demanded a CBI probe and narco test of Swami Anand Giri.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM KP Maurya said that the police has already arrested the accused in the Narendra Giri death case.
