The performance of Maharashtra students in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Examinations saw a marginal rise of 2.9 per cent this year as compared to last year, with an overall pass percentage standing at 89.50.
Girls outperformed boys yet again as Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) declared the HSC results on Tuesday afternoon. While 86.65 per cent of boys were successful, pass percentage among girls was 93.50 per cent.

For the sixth consecutive year, Konkan division recorded the best peformance with 95.20 per cent success rate followed by Kolhapur division with 91.40 per cent and Pune division with 91.16 per cent.
A total of 14,29,478 students had appeared for the examination of which 89,29,89 were boys and 63,64,89 girls. In Mumbai region, 3,17,328 students appeared for the exam. Science stream saw the highest pass percentage at 95.85 followed by the commerce stream with 90.57 per cent. Arts stream registered a pass percentage of 81.91. “We are happy that the number of cheating cases have gone down this year,” said Dattatray Jagtap, Secretary, Mumbai divisional board.
