Due to heavy downpour in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain district for the past few days, river Shipra is under turmoil.

The temples on the bank of the river have submerged under water. Transportation has come to a standstill due to water-clogging in the streets of more than two dozen colonies. Trains are running behind schedule due to water in the railway tracks. 

Schools in both Ujjain and Indore are closed on Monday. The rains initially brought cheer to the farmers but now it has added woes to all as connectivity has been badly hit. Ujjain has recieved over 319 mm rainfall in last 24 hours which is roughly its month quota according to a HT report. Other places  which have been affected are Khandwa, Ratlam and Khargone.
