Lok Sabha Elections: BJP releases 10th list of 39 candidates; swaps seats of Varun Gandhi, mother Maneka

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday released the 10th list of Lok Sabha candidates, swapping seats of Union Minister Maneka Gandhi and her son Varun Gandhi. 

Varun Gandhi, currently an MP from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Pilibhit, a seat currently held by his mother. 

Announcing the names of candidates, BJP General Secretary Arun Singh said that Jaya Prada, who joined the party just today, will contest against Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan from Rampur. Nepal Singh of the BJP is currently the MP from Rampur Lok Sabha constituency. Congress has fielded Sanjay Kapoor from the seat. 

The BJP list has names of 39 candidates - 29 from UP and 10 from West Bengal. 

UP BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey will contest from Chandauli while Union Minister Manoj Sinha has been renominated from Ghazipur. Satyadev Pachauri will contest from Kanpur. The seat is currently held by senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi. 

Pachauri is currently a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government. 

"Ram Shankar Katheria will contest from Etawah. Rita Bahuguna Joshi (UP minister) will contest from Allahabad," Singh said. Jagdambika Pal has been fielded from Domariaganj, he added. 

In West Bengal, Humayun Kabir and actor Joy Banerjee have been fielded from Murshidabad and Ulberia constituency respectively.
