INDIA
With the objective of making the country a manufacturing hub for domestic and foreign companies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched the NDA Government's "Make in India" campaign rolling out a red carpet to attract industrialists to make India a global manufacturing hub, to help create jobs and boost economic growth.
Addressing the business leaders Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "I was listening to the business leaders. My Ministerial colleagues also shared insight, we even saw the film. After seeing all this, hearing these people I do not need to tell you anything more to convince you to Make in India."
Mentioning that he does not want any industrialist being forced to leave India, Modi said, "The most important thing is faith, but we have run the country in such a way that we have failed to show faith in our own people. What happened in last few years? Whenever I met people for the last few years they would tell me- we want to shift out. But I do not want any industrialist being forced to leave India and I can say that we have been able to bring about a change in last few months." he added.
Adding that the FDI is also a responsibility for the people of India, he said, foreign direct investment (FDI) has a different meaning for him, and not just how the world looks at it only as an opportunity. For him, FDI means "first develop India."
Modi further stated ",Who is the Government for? It is for every Indian. It is for the poorest of the poor. Mantra of our Government is that we want to trust each and every Indian. The atmosphere of trust can change a lot of things. Our government wants to have a faith in each and every citizen. The change cannot only take place inside the parliament, it can also happen outside."
Stating that the biggest factor is faith to attract invest he said, "There should be rule of law. Like there is corporate social responsibility (CSR), there should also be corporate-government relations. We have to create opportunities of employment. If the poor get jobs the purchasing power of families will increase."
He said India needs highways and i-ways, which are information ways to create a digital India.
Narendra Modi said, "India offers democracy, demographic dividend, demand and the world is ready to come to Asia. The new era of economic growth is in Asia and we have to see how to make it India's. I want to take India higher on Ease-of-Doing-Business Index and want to enhance Public-Private Partnerships in skills development."
Referring to the successful launch of Mangalyaan, he said, "Especially after yesterday, nobody can question the talent of our people. When we talk of a 'Look East' policy, we must also talk about 'Link West'. We don't have to tell the world our address, there'll be a Vasco da Gama in every nook and corner in India"
"Industry does not come when there are too many incentive schemes. To bring industries, we have to create a development and growth oriented environment. We have to increase manufacturing and at the same time ensure that the benefits reach the youth of our nation and this is the step of a Lion."
He further added. "We want highways. We also want i-ways - information ways for a Digital India. This nation is yours. There is no need to leave the nation. We want our companies to shine as MNCs"
The "Make in India" initiative will act as a first reference point for guiding foreign investors on all aspects of regulatory and policy issues and assist them in obtaining regulatory clearances. The Centre has already allowed 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) under the automatic route in construction, operation and maintenance in rail infrastructure projects and increased FDI in defence from 26 to 49 per cent.
He said the investor facilitation cell will provide assistance to the foreign investors from the time of their arrival in the country to the time of their departure, with focus on green and advanced manufacturing and helping these companies to become an important part of the global value chain.
