A 55 year-old woman was killed and 20 others were injured at suburban Tirumullaivoyal when a cylinder containing liquid chlorine exploded while being transported in a van. Police said some cylinders were being transported to a Navy base in nearby Arakkonam when one of them fell off the load autorickshaw, triggering an explosion yesterday. Mariam Beevi who fell unconscious after being trapped in the gas was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died, police said. Around 20 persons who complained of suffocation and irritation were provided treatment, police said.
