As the national capital goes through its usual affair with the air pollution level continuing to deteriorate each passing year, a 9-year-old girl, Licypriya Kangujam is fighting to stop climate change by demanding that the Narendra Modi government bring the climate change law to control air pollution.
She has been protesting at Vijay Chowk in Delhi carrying placards that demand the government to pass a Climate change law and urged people to gather at Vijay Chowk today to extend support to her demand.
Licypriya also alleged that while she was protesting at Vijay Chowk, the police detained her at a nearby police station, and then later released her at Jantar Mantar.
''Either Coronavirus or Air Pollution will kill us," Licpriya tweeted.
''People told me, “Why are you protesting in midnight?” No one listened to me when I protest in day time. But now, everyone heard my voice. Symbolic protest in midnight is sending a strong message to our leaders that IT’S NOT THE TIME TO SLEEP. WAKE UP NOW. PEOPLE ARE DYING," Licpriya stated in another tweet.
She also tweeted a picture of herself and stated that she was on her way to meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, to address the air pollution situation in Delhi.

Licpriya has been a constant advocate for environmental protection and has used several natural calamities to focus the government's attention on climate change. She has won the International Children's Peace Prize and India Peace Prize for her work as an environmental activist.
