Leopard tries to take away pet dog from house

A leopard on Friday entered a house in the tea estate town of Valparai in the district and tried to make off with a dog in broad daylight and in full public view, striking panic among residents.The leopard, which was hiding in a bush, pounced on a pet dog which was basking in the sun on the verandah of the house, police said. As the carnivore was making off with the dog, people started shouting, startling it. It dropped the dog and fled. The dog is safe, police said.
