Lawyer who led mob against scribes defends himself; says JNU students started the fight
Violence broke out in the court complex on Monday as groups of lawyers attacked journalists, students and teachers of JNU and unidentified people dubbing them as anti-nationals in the wake of a row over the arrest of a student leader, Kanhaiya Kumar.
At the Patiala House Court scuffle on Monday where media was attacked at by the lawyers, Vikram Singh Chauhan was one such lawyer who was caught on camera involved in the scuffle. Chauhan claims that the lawyers were provoked by JNU teachers.
While speaking to NDTV, Chauhan admitted that he arranged the protest against 'anti-nationals', but didn't imagine the situation to go out of hand. He said that the lawyers were provoked by JNU teachers.

Chauhan also told NDTV that the students had started the fight. He claimed that when he told the students that "they wanted to divide Kashmir and Kerala, the students said they were never a part of India."
Reports suggest that Chauhan is a BJP sympathiser and has earlier been photographed with several BJP leaders.

BJP leader OP Sharma, who was also caught on camera involved in a fight, claimed a group of people had hit him and that his action as "natural".
"When I objected to their slogans, they hit me and ran away. I and some other people then started chasing them and, thereafter whatever happened yesterday is before you as evidence," Sharma said.
"When someone will beat me up, the possible natural action that could be followed is what happened in this incident...Unknown people who were shouting in favour of Pakistan, were creating a wrong atmosphere. They should go there. Why they are residing in India," he said.
