A lawyer, practising in a Delhi court, as been arrested here for demanding a bribe from a rape accused for an out-of-court settlement of his case, police said today.

Vishnu Dutt, who was practising in Saket court in south Delhi, was arrested from MGF mall in Gurgaon last night following a complaint from the rape accused, they said.

According to the complaint, Dutt had called up the rape accused, currently out on bail, and demanded Rs 9.5 lakh for an out-of-court settlement of the case which was registered under the POCSO Act, Gurgaon Police's chief spokesperson ACP Manish Sehgal said.

A trap was laid and when Dutt came to the MGF mall to receive the first instalment of the bribe amount, he was arrested red-handed, the officer said.
