Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday, called for immediate improvement in the law and order situation of West Bengal, indirectly slamming the Trinamool Congress-led West Bengal government. “The law and order situation must improve in the state. The reports that are coming in are very serious and alarming and the state government must pay immediate attention to the law and order situation prevailing in the state. The Centre will stand next to the state in providing security,” Singh said while speaking in Kolkata on the completion of one year of the NDA government. “There is a lot to be done in the state to bring the law and order situation under control,” he added. This apart, Singh highlighted the achievements of one year of the NDA government and said that the Centre is committed to develop the nation. The Union Home Minister also slammed the UPA government and claimed that the erstwhile Central government did not concentrate on border issues, especially the Indo-Bangladesh relations. “The UPA government did not address border issues. The Indo-Bangla border issue was pending since 40 years and finally we have addressed it. We have resolved the Teesta river issue and also begun trial run of bus services between Kolkata and Dhaka,” he added.
