Ramesh Motwani, 43, of Vadodara used an old con trick to steal laptops, but was apprehended on Wednesday. Motwani used to go to electronics shops and 'purchase' a laptop by telling the seller to deliver it to his office where he would make the payment. In June, 2009, a dealer in Vastrapur, Himanshu Sanghani, 'sold' a laptop to Motwani and sent his employee to pick up the payment from Motwani’s office. Motwani asked him to give him the laptop and collect the cash for it from his office upstairs. When the employee followed these directions, he discovered that Motwani did not have any office, and by the time he raced downstairs, the crook had vanished. The police have so far recovered three laptops.
