Laplap’s son thrashes youngster

Like father like son. The line suits to a T Yusufkhan Pathan aka Yusuf Laplap and his youngest son Musaif Pathan. The son’s latest act is evidence that the youngster is trying hard to step into the shoes of his father, whose writ runs large in the eastern part of the city. The 20-year-old Musaif instead seems to have chosen the suburbs on the western side to terrorise peace loving citizens.

Musaif is said to have taken the law in his hands while dealing with one Rahul Trivedi, an 18-year-old second year student of Sahjanand college and resident of Sterling city in Bopal. According to Trivedi, he had gone to Café Cabana behind Rajpath club to enjoy his Sunday evening. The café is a popular hangout for youths in the city.

And just as Trivedi was about to park his car in the parking lot of the café at 8pm, Musaif and his friend arrived on a swanky Hayabusa motorbike and prevented him from entering the lot.

“They told me that the parking space belonged to them and ordered me to stay away. They asked me to park my car somewhere else or face the consequences,” said Trivedi.

When Trivedi remained adamant despite the threats, Musaif, along with his unidentified friend, allegedly started beating him and even packed a few punches to his face. According to Trivedi, Musaif also received support from some of his friends already sitting in the parking area. Trivedi received injuries to his face and eyes, and underwent medical treatment before filing a complaint at Vastrapur police station on Monday afternoon. “Later, I also learned that Musaif is the son of Yusuf Laplap, but, I was not aware about Laplap or his activities,” said Trivedi.

Earlier in December 2010, Musaif was in the news due to a bike stunt, which killed his friend Yasar Arafat. On the night of December 11, 2011, Arafat was flung off a speeding 600cc Honda CBR bike which was being driven by Musaif. The stunt was attempted on the Shivranjani flyover but Musaif only ended up flinging Arafat down the flyover in the process. Investigation revealed that Musaif was trying stunts on their way home and had lost control over the vehicle. Arafat landed on the road below, and Musaif sustained severe injuries, due to the accident.
