Over forty houses in a village in Pune district were buried in a landslide trigged by heavy rains on Tuesday.

Malin village in Ambegaon taluka of the district was hit by the landslide after two lakes in the region overflowed on Wednesday morning. There are over 750 residents in the village, reports said.

Over 100 people are said to be buried under the debris. Unconfirmed reports claimed that 15 people are confirmed dead.

The district administration has activated search and rescue operations. A 100 member team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is rushing to the spot.
