BJP has asked its leaders not to defend or support Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje in the Lalit Modi controversy, or speak about her involvement until all the facts are ascertained.
After Congress demanded Rajasthan Chief Minister Vaundhara Raje's resignation in Lalit Modi row, Raje called up BJP chief Amit Shah to clarify her position in the matter.
Vasundhara Raje explained that her family have known Lalit Modi's family for quite some time now and there is no wrongdoing, reports NDTV.
Notes released by Lalit Modi's public relations team showed that, then leader of opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, Raje had supported Modi's immigration application to the UK in 2011, but on condition of secrecy.
After Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, CM Vasundhara Raje is the second BJP leader drawn into controversy over Lalit Modi's immigration into UK.
Former IPL chief Lalit Modi is being investigated for tax evasion, money laundering among other charges, by Indian authorities.
