Kolkata fire: License of AMRI Hospital, Dhakuria to be cancelled; toll rises to 70

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Friday directed cancellation of the License of AMRI hospital at Dhakuria where 70 patients died in a devastating fire."I have received the chief minister's directive for cancellation of the License of the hospital for which steps are being taken," Disaster Management Minister Javed Khan told PTI.He also said that an FIR against the hospital authorities has been lodged under non-bailable sections on the direction of the chief minister. Asked about the cancellation of License , Senior Vice-President of AMRI Hospitals, S Upadhay, declined to comment.On the allegation that the basement of the hospital was used as godown where inflammable articles were stored, he said the hospital authorities would look into it.
