Sources close to Kumar suggested he sought more time to appear before the CBI.
Former Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar skipped CBI summons on Monday. Kumar sent a letter through the West Bengal CID officers to the CBI office seeking more time. However, officers who went to the CGO complex that houses the CBI office remained tight lipped over the contents of the letter.
Sources close to Kumar suggested he sought more time to appear before the CBI. Kumar, who is on leave and not in Kolkata currently, sought seven more days. "We have come to submit a letter to the CBI. We do not know the contents of the letter. A letter was served to the ADG CID office, and this is in regards to the letter," the CID officer told reporters at the CGO complex.
On the other hand, the CBI too remained tight-lipped whether it would allow Kumar seven more days. Kumar remained unreachable throughout, and sources said he was out of town.
Meanwhile, Kumar also moved an anticipatory bail petition through his lawyers at the Barasat court.
