Angry over the murder of Balbir Banuda in Bikaner jail yesterday, locals and his relatives pelted stones at police and damaged a jeep in protest and also demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. The situation was brought under control after intervention of senior officers. "The family members and relatives demanded CBI inquiry and action against those involved in the case. They damaged a jeep and also tried to set it ablaze, but the situation was brought under control," SP Sikar, Haidar Ali Zaidi said. He said the villagers were pacified and persuaded for the funeral of the body.

Banuda was shot dead by a rival gang member Jaiprakash lodged in the same jail in Bikaner yesterday. Jaiprakash and his aide Rampal were also beaten to death by Banuda's aide inside the jail.

Additional policemen have been deployed in the area near Dataramgarh and the situation is under control, he said, adding, that the body has been cremated.
