GHAZIABAD: A son of a leading industrialist is cooling his heels when he was arrested after faking his own kidnapping and claimed he was robbed as he was about to splurge Rs 20 lakh to please his lady love.
The was stopped in his tracks while he was planning to go to Goa in a luxury car bought by him as a present to his girl friend.
Anand Tyagi collected payment of Rs. 20 lakh from a business party in New Delhi on December 18, bought a Rs 10 lakh luxury car as a present for his girlfriend and informed the police through one of his friends that he was allegedly kidnapped and robbed of Rs 20 lakh, SSP Deepak Ratan told.
He also left his own Safari vehicle in a deep dry pond to convince the police of the kidnap plot.
Police, however, arrested him last night from Loni area. Rs nine lakh in cash and the car he had bought for his girlfriend have been recovered from his possession.
Tyagi revealed during interrogation that he was planning to go to Goa with his girlfriend in the car.
Tyagi was sent to jail on Thursday but his girl friend is still at large.
