The lone BJP member, Neil Antonio War, an executive member of the Council, also supported the resolution moved by opposition Congress members and which was later adopted by the ruling People's Democratic Front in the House of 30.

KHADC chairman L G Nongsiej announced adoption of the resolution.

KHADC is one of the three tribal autonomous councils in the state.

Meghalaya assembly has adopted a similar resolution at a one day sitting on June 12.
